Tourist Spots in Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda is situated in the eastern part of the Caribbean Sea. It is an island nation that shares its sea boundary with the Atlantic Ocean. There are two separate big islands that contribute to a single nation. One is the island of Antigua and the other is the island of Barbuda.

The islands of Antigua and Barbuda are neighboring islands which are located close to each other. There are many islands like Anguilla, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and Dominica that lie very close to this nation.

Antigua has more than 300 beaches that attract many people worldwide. Antigua is the perfect place for the people who have variety of interests. Antigua is a place where you can find a blend of the Caribbean beauty and modern culture and comfort. There are also many other tourist spot that attract tourist people.

Barbuda is the other island that constitutes the nation. Barbuda is comparatively smaller in geological size when compared to Antigua. Barbuda is a perfect place for people who love peace and quiet. This island is just the opposite to that of Antigua Island. This island has many natural beauties that can be admired.

Shirley Heights

The military buildings and the array of gun emplacements is very famous in that area. It offers a breath taking prospects. From the top of the Shirley heights, one can see beyond the English Harbour. This place got its name from a general named Shirley. General Shirley was the governor of Leeward Islands.

Harmony Hall Art Gallery

The Harmony Hall Art gallery, located in Brown’s Bay serves as the center for the arts community of Antigua. It exhibits many arts and artistic events throughout the year. The highlights of this gallery are the artistic events named Antigua’s artistic exhibition and the craft fair that is organized in every November.

Museum of Antigua and Barbuda

This Museum of Antigua and Barbuda tells us the story of the ancient Antigua and Barbuda starting from the geological formation and also about the political formations. This museum is located in the center of St. John’s and is a very cool place to visit.

This museum also houses a great variety of collections that include some interesting small objects that were collected throughout the history and other exhibits like the bat of Vivian Richards, who was one of the greatest players of cricket.

English Harbour

The English Harbour in Antigua is located in the national park where you can also find the Nelson’s dockyard. Here you can spend some time visiting the admiral’s place and other areas. There are also other interesting places like the mystery pillars, Blockhouse ruins and the Art gallery.
